Susan B. Lindenauer of Manhattan is the new chair of the 2,254-member Senior Lawyers Section of the New York State Bar Association.

Ms. Lindenauer is the retired counsel to the president and attorney-in-chief of the Legal Aid Society, where she worked for 38 years.

She is a member of the House of Delegates and co-chair of the Task Force on Family Court. She chairs the fellows of the New York Bar Foundation and serves on the board of the New York State Interest on Lawyer Account Fund (IOLA).

A former first-district vice-president of the State Bar's Executive Committee, Ms. Lindenauer recently was chair-elect of the Senior Lawyers Section. She previously chaired the Criminal Justice Section, Committee on Legal Aid and Special Committee on Grand Jury Project. She received the Ruth G. Schapiro Award in 2011 given by the Committee on Women in the Law and the Criminal Justice Section's Special Recognition for Service to the Bar and the Community Award in 2001.Ms. Lindenauer graduated magna cum laude from Smith College and earned her law degree cum laude from Columbia Law School.
