Sarah Parker is the Chief Justice of the North Carolina Supreme Court. She has served on the court since 1993 and has been re-elected twice to the post of Associate Justice. She was appointed to serve as Chief Justice in 2006. Prior to serving on the Supreme Court, she was appointed to the North Carolina Court of Appeals in 1984 and re-elected twice to that position.

Between college and law school, Chief Justice Parker volunteered in the U.S. Peace Corps, and was stationed in Ankara, Turkey, for two years. Following law school, she became an attorney in private practice for 15 years before becoming a judge. Chief Justice Parker serves on the Governor’s Crime Commission; North Carolina Equal Access to Justice Commission; State Advisory Council on Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention.
