Molly Van Houweling is the Harold C. Hohbach Distinguished Professor of Patent Law and Intellectual Property at the University of California, Berkeley, School of Law. She also serves as Associate Dean for J.D. Curriculum and Teaching and is Co-Director of the Berkeley Center for Law & Technology. She is an Associate Reporter on ALI’s Restatement of Copyright project.
Professor Van Houweling joined UC Berkeley in Fall 2005 from the University of Michigan Law School. Her teaching and research interests include intellectual property, law and technology, property, and food law.
Prior to joining academia, she served as president of Creative Commons, a nonprofit group that facilitates sharing of intellectual property. She is currently Chair of the Creative Commons Board of Directors. And she is a co-founder and director of the nonprofit Authors Alliance.
Professor Van Houweling has been a research fellow at the Center for Advanced Study in the Behavioral Sciences at Stanford University, the Berkman Center for Internet & Society at Harvard Law School, and the Center for Internet and Society at Stanford Law School.
She also clerked for and U.S. Supreme Court Justice David H. Souter and for Judge Michael Boudin of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit.
