Bill Wagner is an original founding partner in the law firm of Wagner McLaughlin. He retired from the firm in 2022. For more than 50 years, he represented plaintiffs in personal injury and wrongful death litigation.

He was elected to the ALI in 1986 and was elected to the Council in 1993. Mr. Wagner serves on the Members Consultative Groups for the Principles of Government Ethics project; the Principles of Election Law: Resolution of Election Disputes project; the Principles of the Law of Liability Insurance project; the Restatement Third, Torts: Liability for Economic Harm project; the Principles of the Law of Charitable Nonprofit Organizations; and the Restatement Third, Employment Law. He previously served as an Adviser on the Restatement Third, Torts: Apportionment of Liability project.

The Academy of Florida Trial Lawyers (now named Florida Justice Association) elected him to its 1972-1973 presidency, as well as sixteen years of board membership. He has also served as President of the Association of Trial Lawyers of America (also known as the American Association for Justice), a nationwide organization of plaintiffs’ trial attorneys, having served as an officer or a member of its Board of Governors for more than sixteen years.
