Conrad K. Harper is a retired partner of Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP. He was Legal Adviser of the U.S. Department of State from 1993 to 1996. Early in his career, he was a staff lawyer at the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund. He has been President of the New York City Bar Association, Chancellor of the Episcopal Diocese of New York, Chair of the William Nelson Cromwell Foundation, and a member of the Harvard Corporation. He served as the ALI’s First Vice President (2000-04) and as Second Vice President (1998-2000).
