Pamela Craven recently retired as the chief administrative officer and general counsel of Avaya, a global provider of business collaboration and communications solutions with 14,000 employees and operating in more than 90 countries. She also served as the company’s chief compliance officer.

Under her leadership the Chief Administrative Officer organization consisted of approximately 300 employees and included: Internal Audit; Government Affairs; Human Resources; Corporate Security; Global Trade; Global Real Estate; Ethics & Compliance; Environmental, Health & Safety; Philanthropy; and the Law Department. The Law Department operates in more than 20 countries with practice areas that include corporate & securities law and governance; commercial law & contracting; international law & contracting; labor, employment and employee benefits law; litigation; and intellectual property law and management, including patents, trademarks, copyrights and licensing. 

Ms. Craven was part of the initial management team of Avaya at the time of its spin-off in 2000 from Lucent Technologies Inc., where she served as vice president of Law and Corporate Secretary for Lucent with more than 50 lawyers under her leadership. She joined Lucent directly from AT&T as part of the 1996 initial public offering and spin-off of its equipment manufacturing business and Bell Laboratories. Ms. Craven joined AT&T in 1992 following AT&T's acquisition of NCR Corporation in Dayton, Ohio, where she was assistant general counsel and assistant secretary. For a number of years, she was a tax attorney in private practice and at NCR.

Ms. Craven is a member of the Board of Directors and Chair of the Compensation Committee of Amber Road, a NYSE listed provider of software-as-a-service solutions for international trade. During her tenure at Avaya, Ms. Craven also served on the board of directors  and remuneration committee of AGC Networks, Limited (India), a publicly listed Indian corporation involved in the distribution and servicing of enterprise communications solutions in the Indian market.

In addition, she was a member of the Board of Overseers of the University of Pennsylvania Law School for a 10-year term 2004-2014 and continues to be actively involved at the Law School. Ms Craven and her husband co-sponsor the Center for Ethics and the Rule of Law at Penn, an interdisciplinary institute dedicated to the promotion and preservation of the rule of law in 21st century warfare and national security. 

Ms. Craven joined the board of New Jersey Women Lawyers Association in 2014 and is a member of the DirectWomen Board Insititute, Class of 2012.
