Catherine T. Struve is the David E. Kaufman & Leopold C. Glass Professor of Law at University of Pennsylvania Carey School of Law. She teaches and researches in the fields of civil procedure and federal courts. She serves as Reporter to the U.S. Judicial Conference Standing Committee on Rules of Practice and Procedure. Previously she was an associate in the litigation department at Cravath, Swaine & Moore, and clerked for Judge Amalya Kearse of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.

From 2006 to 2015 she served as reporter to the Judicial Conference Advisory Committee on Appellate Rules. She currently serves as co-reporter to a Third Circuit task force that has prepared model jury instructions in civil cases. She won the Law School’s Harvey Levin Award for Excellence in Teaching in 2003, 2009, and 2015.

She was elected to the ALI in 2006 and was elected to the Council 2010. She serves as an Adviser on the Restatement Third, The Law of American Indians project.
