Deborah Tuerkheimer joined Northwestern University Law School in 2014 as a professor of law after teaching law at DePaul University since 2009. She teaches and writes in the areas of criminal law, evidence, and feminist legal theory.
She is the author of “Flawed Convictions: ‘Shaken Baby Syndrome’ and the Inertia of Injustice,” and the co-author of the casebook “Feminist Jurisprudence: Cases and Materials.” She has also written numerous articles focusing on rape and domestic violence.
Professor Tuerkheimer clerked for Justice Jay Rabinowitz on the Alaska Supreme Court, and later served for five years as an Assistant District Attorney in New York County, where she specialized in domestic violence prosecution.
