Christine Coughlin is a Professor of Law at the Wake Forest University School of Law. She has won multiple awards for both her teaching and scholarship, including the Mary S. Lawrence Award for Excellence in Scholarship and Innovative Curricular Design, the Wake Forest University Teaching Innovation Award, the Joseph Branch Award for Excellence in Teaching.

Professor Coughlin has a faculty appointment in the Wake Forest University Graduate School of Arts and Sciences where she is a core faculty member of the Wake Forest University Center for Bioethics, Health & Society.

Professor Coughlin's scholarship is interdisciplinary in nature and her work has been cited in legal, scientific, medical, and educational journals and texts. She has authored or co-authored five books, more than a dozen law review articles, three book chapters, and many other guest essays, blog posts, etc.  Her most recent scholarship focuses on the legal, ethical, and policy issues in human subjects research, investigational drugs and emerging biotechnologies, as well as issues at the intersection of law and public health.
