Elise Boddie to Present AERA 2024 Brown Lecture in Education Research

Elise Boddie of the University of Michigan has been selected by the American Educational Research Association (AERA) to deliver the 2024 Brown Lecture in Education Research. Her talk, titled “Brown v. Board of Education and the Democratic Ideals,” will take place on October 24 at Howard University, and will be streamed online. Registration is open and the event is free to attend. 

Boddie, known for her work in combatting systemic racism, previously taught at Rutgers Law School, where she founded The Inclusion Project to promote equitable education in New Jersey. She has also served in the Civil Rights Division of the U.S. Department of Justice and on the Presidential Commission on the Supreme Court of the United States. 

The AERA Brown Lecture series was created in 2004 to mark the 50th anniversary of the Brown v. Board of Education decision.
