José A. Cabranes Is the 2023 Devitt Award Recipient
The Dwight D. Opperman Foundation has announced that José A. Cabranes of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit will receive the 2023 Devitt Distinguished Service to Justice Award.
The award, named for the late Edward J. Devitt who served as chief justice of the U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota, honors an Article III judge who “has achieved a distinguished career and made significant contributions to the administration of justice, the advancement of the rule of law, and the improvement of society as a whole.”
"I am deeply grateful to Justice Kavanaugh and his colleagues on the Devitt Award committee, Circuit Judge Britt Grant and District Judge Christopher Cooper,” said Cabranes in the announcement. “It is an honor to receive this Award, established by the late Dwight D. Opperman."
Cabranes will receive the award on September 26 from Justice Brett Kavanagh at the Supreme Court of the United States.
