The Science of Implicit Bias: Implications for Law and Policy - A Workshop

On Mar. 22-23, the virtual workshop “The Science of Implicit Bias: Implications for Law and Policy” will explore the scientific basis of implicit bias, its prevalence and impact, and implications for policy and law. The event is being organized by an ad hoc planning committee, co-chaired by Camara Jones of Morehouse University and Goodwin Liu of the California Supreme Court under the auspices of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine’s Committee on Science, Technology, and Law.

The workshop will include moderated panel discussions featuring leading experts, including ALI members Ivan K. Fong of 3M Co. and Tanya K. Hernandez of Fordham Law.

Topics include:

  • Implicit Bias in the Context of Structural Racism
  • The Prevalence and Pervasiveness of Implicit Bias
  • The Foundations of Implicit Bias
  • The Effects of Implicit Bias in Various Environments
  • Mitigation Strategies for Implicit Bias

The event will take place online on March 22-23. Registration is free.
