Torts: Intentional Torts to Persons

This project is part of ALI’s ongoing revision of the Restatement Second of Torts. Portions of the Restatement Second have been superseded by the Restatement Third of Torts. This Restatement addresses other major avenues of recovery for physical and emotional harm to persons, with a focus on assault, battery, false imprisonment, including chapters on consent, self-defense, and other privileges.

At the 2021 Annual Meeting, membership voted to approve the Tentative Draft, marking the completion of this project. Preparation of the official text is in progress.

All draft approvals are subject to the discussion at the meeting and usual editorial prerogative.
